RARE TO SEE AND OBTAIN WW1 Veteran Memorial Medal and accompanyingbadge issued most probably in Greece in 1977 (judging to the inscription inGreek and date 8-5-77). Medal was issued most probably to some war veterans to commemoratesome anniversaryor event connected to Allied Powers joint war efforts in WW1. Allied countriesrepresented (by their Flags) on this medal are: UK, France, Italy, Greece andYugoslavia (Serbia).

Beside mentioned date, both medal and badge feature years 1916 and1918 and also inscription (motto) in Greek language: \'\'ΑΝΔΡΩΝ ΕΠΙΦΑΝΩΝ ΠΑΣΑ ΓΗΤΑΦΟΣ\'\', or \'\'For Heroes the Whole Earth is their Tomb\'\'. It\'s known as the maininscription at the Monument (Tomb) of the Unknown Soldier at Syntagma Square,in Athens, Greece. Words are originating from the famous speech \"FuneralOration\" by Pericles, the founder of democracy.

Badge is made of some kind of leather (on plastic? base) withstamped inscriptions. With safety pin suspension. Badge diameter: 6 cm (2.36inches).

Medal is made of white gild metal with baked colors on the frontside. It hangs on a white-blue long ribbon. Medal diameter: 4.5 cm (1.77inches).

Until I obtained them some time ago, these pieces were COMPLETELYUNKNOWN to me. The only time I ever saw the medal was some old Serbian WW1 TVdocumentary. One screenshot from this video with some Serbian WW1 decorations(including this particular rare medal) is attached.

Both items are nicely preserved, with normal signs of age.
