1979 John Wayne 23K Gold Portrait Whiskey Decanter:
$10.00

In 1979 the Mike Wayne Distilled Products Co. from Bardstown, Kentucky released this collectible decanter of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey featuring the portrait of John Wayne painted by the noted artist, Everett Raymond Kinstler who is famous for painting many celebrities including most recent presidents. The container at one time held 750 ML of 80 proof whiskey. Of course the seal is broken as the beverage has been consumed, but the bottle itself makes an impressive display piece for any bar. It is labeled 23K Gold, and although the bottle is trimmed in bright gold, I believe this to be in reference to the bourbon quality and not the glaze used on the decanter. It appears that the corked decanter on top is in the shape of a portrait light and the overall appearance of the piece represents the gold framed portrait of John Wayne as done by the artist and the one that was commissioned by the National Cowboy Hall of Fame that hangs in the Western Heritage Center. It is an impressively large piece that measures 10-1/2" x 7" x 2". Any Wayne collector would love to add this to his group.
