Up for sale is a vintage 1981 crystal glass cup plate, with an individually hand-pressed image of aPalmer Cox Browniein the center. The diameter of the round, amethystcup plate measures approximately 3.5 inches across. This is an official New Bedford Glass Museum cup plate, and is the sixth in a series of designs associated with glass making. Palmer Cox created the Brownies in 1880, and Pairpoint used the quaint figures on a number of glass lines as well as silver-plated items. The cup plate design is based on a Brownie sketch by George C. Avila. The collectible piece was made by the Pairpoint Glass Company, in Sagamore, on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Included with the cup plate is the original Pairpoint Glass Company sticker; the originalinformational card, printed onbeigecard stock; and the original card board box packaging with cotton batting.

Cup plates were widely used in the 18th and early 19th centuries. Hot tea was served in handleless cups and poured into saucers to cool. Tea was drunk from the saucer while the cup was place on a cup plate to protect the table.

The cup plate is in virtually mint condition, with no cracks, chips, scratches, stains, discoloration, repairs nor any other damage that I can detect. The box is in near mint condition as well. However, the informational cardmay have some slight warping to the card stock.

At this time I am selling a large collection of similar Pairpoint Glass Company Cup Plates, and will combine shipping for multiple purchases. The cost of shipping for the first cup plate is $3.95, and then only $1.45 for each additional cup plate purchased and mailed at the same time.

Thank you for looking. If you have any questions or would like additional information or pictures, please e-mail me as I would be happy to provide additional details. Please note that all items being sold come from a smoke-free and pet-free home. I am not a professional dealer, and am simply downsizing after years of collecting. I try very hard to accurately list and describe the condition of each item that I sell, and can appreciate the frustration of receiving an item that is not as described. Being human, I will occasionally make a mistake, and may miss a flaw or imperfection that would leave one dissatisfied with their purchase. If this occurs, and you feel that the item you receive is not as described, please contact me immediately. My goal is that each individual who buys from me is happy with their purchase.
