1981 Schecter Chrome on Brass Pickguard for Fender Precision:

This pickguard was purchase by me when I was 13 years old in 1981. I was (am) a big Phil Lynott fan, and wanted my first bass to look like his did. My bass was a black \'Fresher Personal\' (old Japanese Precision knock-off). When I realized that it didn\'t quite fit, I did what any 13 year old might do.. took a file to it around the pickup holes until it worked.So as you can see, the chrome is chipped off around the holes, with a little bit of silver modeling paint on it for good measure (hey, I tried!). The Schecter Made in USA sticker is still intact on the back.I have laid it on top of an actual Fender Precision pickguard in one of the pics, so that you can see what\'s going on. Basically, I widened it by about a 1/16th on the bass side, and an 1/8th on the treble side, and slightly widened the \'U\' cutouts. This guard weighs in at 18.1 oz (515 grams), and has about 12 years of daily wear and tear going on. If you are trying to add some old-timey vibe to your bass and a pinch in your neck from the added weight, you can\'t go wrong here!
