1986 Restrike of 1486 Austria Guldiner NGC MS68 6.3 Grams Silver Nearly Perfect:

This is a 1986 silver restrike of the 1486 Austria Guldiner which was the first taler silver dollar sized coin of regular issue and is sometimes referred to as the great-grandfather of the crown sized silver coins later issued by countries throughout the World. This silver restrike issued for the 500th anniversary of this famous coin is a smaller version of the Guildner roughly the size of a quarter and weighting 6.3 grams of silver. This example of the 1986 silver restrike of the 1486 Austria Guldiner has been graded MS68 by NGC and is encapsulated in a newer-style edge-view holder. The coin is bright white and very lustrous on both sides. There are no significant marks, hits or other distractions on the coin and the piece appears to be virtually perfect. The obverse of the coin is the crowned Arch Duke Sigismund of Tyrol standing facing with sword and scepter, lion with shield at left, helmet at right, the restrike date of 1986 is at the base of the obverse. The reverse features a knight with banner riding a horse surrounded by shields and the 1486 date below. To date, this is the only example of this issue graded MS68 by NGC with no examples grading finer. An amazing and practically perfect example of this well done restrike of a very popular design.
