This is a 1988American Silver Eagle Proof Coin. It weighs one ounce and contains 99.9% silver. This is the lowest mintage proof eagle since the inception of the eagle program in 1986.
The American Eagle Silver Proof Coin\'s obverse design is Adolph A. Weinman\'s full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the Flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. The reverse design, by United States Mint sculptor/engraver John Mercanti, features the heraldic eagle with shield, an olive branch in the right talon and arrows in the left.
