Claude Monet LOVED the Rouen Cathedral and painted a series of paintings capturing light at different hours of the day.
This 1992 work by Terence Howe pays tribute to that work a century earlier. Howe also did mulitple times of day and he actually signed the paintings Claude Monet, deigning to put his own name only on the back.
Howe was/is a well known UK artist born in Ruislip,Middlesex, July 1943 to Irish-American father and English mother. He studied painting/stained-glass at Hornsey College of Art 1959-1965, under David Tindle, Alan Green, Sam Rabin and Allin Braund. Howe did many jobs and took a while to get established. Hetook part in an exhibition of old Hornsey Alumni under the title of “Old Contemporaries” This exhibition was a great success and re established Terence’s position as an abstract artist of great quality.
