1997-W $5 Franklin D. Roosevelt Gold Commemorative Coin PCGS MS70 This beautiful coin is graded a perfect MS70 by PCGS. As of 4/22/18 the total PCGS population for this MS70 graded coin is a total of just 240 coins.
The 1997 Franklin D. Roosevelt $5 gold coin was issued to honor and recognize the 32nd President of the United States.
The obverse of the coin depicts the upper torso and head of Franklin D. Roosevelt. This coin was designed by T. James Ferrell based on a photograph of F.D.R. reviewing the U.S. Navy fleet in San Francisco Bay. Inscriptions include “Franklin Delano Roosevelt,” “1997,” “In God We Trust,” and “Liberty.”
The reverse of the coin features the Presidential sealed as displayed at Roosevelt\'s 1933 inauguration. It was designed by James Peed and modeled by Thomas D. Rogers, Sr. The inscriptions include “United States of America,” and “Five Dollars.”
The Franklin D. Roosevelt $5 Gold Commemorative Coins were produced at the U.S. Mint at West Point.
