I have recently bought a small collection of antique apothecary jars from a local estate. All the jars will be listed here on and all sold with . Please see my other listings for the other jars.

This listing is for a late 19th century Continental porcelain apothecary drug jar. The jar measure 10 ¾ inches or 27.3 cm high to the top of the finial on the cover.

The jar is high white glaze porcelain with hand painted label at the front. The label reads “PULV: VIPERA”, possibly meaning viper powder. Around this is cartouche of black, red and gold, with two figures standing to either side. The cover also has heavy applied gold highlights.

The jar is in good condition, there is a chip and hairline on the jar and two chips on the rim of the cover, hairline where the finial is attached, and age appropriate wear to the heavy applied gold.
