As per rules the paper thin slice of ivory used in this portrait is less than 5 % of the total mass and is pre-ban elephant ivory.The painting shows Marie Antoinette seated for her portrait with a blue and yellow gown adorned with pink roses and also in her hair. She is seated against a plain black background which emphasizes her portrait. The gilt frame has a raised floral border and an open work bow on the top and an easel back. It is signed on the lower right \"GARNIER\". The painting is in excellent condition, the frame has a small break in the wood matte around the portrait.
