An antique rectangular Chinese/Japanese 19th Century landscape wooden chest.It depicts two phoenix in
flight around alarge tree
The front depicts vine foliage with mother of pearl decorations.
The back is also painted with foliage and the sides painted with bamboo foliage.It is a lovely piece,I cannot
tell its age.
It has six small drawers and a large drawer beneath,all with bronze handles which have an incised pattern.
The chest measures about 41cm height and 42cm width,the sides measure 23cm.
The painting appears to be lacquer,I am not sure.There are patches of paint loss due to age.
I cannot see a mark anywhere.
IN GOOD CONDITION FOR ITS AGE,THERE ARE CHIPS AND LOSS OF PAINT ESPECIALLY IN DOOR EDGES,SCRATCHES TO THE PANEL AS WELL
