Antique Native American Bow - Hand-Carved Osage-Orange Wood

I am offering a hand-carved Native American bow of unknown age. Wonderful Patina. This is NOT a modern reproduction by some living Native American artist. I took this bow to our local museum for their opinion; here\'s what they told me:

* It is indeed very old, probably made prior to 1900.

* They believe it is made of Osage-Orange wood and is hand carved.

* It is probably from the Native American Osage Nation.

* They could not accurately date it, but it definitely is NOT a modern reproduction made to sell to tourists.

* The handgrip is worn smooth, so it HAS been used as a bow and not a decorative piece.

* The binding is some kind of sheep skin and was probably added at a later date as a decoration.

* It is 75 inches long (6\', 3\") to give it added power for hunting by someone very tall. (The Osage Native Americans averaged more than 6 1/2-feet tall.)

The wood has some cracks from age.I have had this bow for many years. I have consulted with other collectors and I believe what I have in this listing to be true, however, like any piece of history, it can not be verified.
