19th C. Brussels Duchesse Point de Gaze LACE Berthe collar BRIDE COLLECTOR:

Top quality 19th century Berthe collar - one and a quarter round - of Brussels mixed Duchesse bobbin lace and Point de Gaze needle lace. Design technique and workmanship all combine to make this an especially good piece. Point de gaze roses (seven total) have layers of petals. Lots of good raised details in the bobbin lace, raised dots on the half stitch scrollwork. No short cuts in the workmanship.

Ivory / light ecru.

Unusual to find such good technique and workmanship in a piece in such good condition.

Condition is very good. Possibly never used. Has been stored for years, and is slightly dusty. Has some creases from storage. One insert of point de gaze has a hole - see photo. Others all good.

7 1/2 inches deep. About 40 inches long on the top inside edge.
