$688.00

Description: This is a 19th C. Qing [Ching] Dynasty Chinese Imperial silk embroidered, brocade-woven arm cushion, C. 1840. Arm cushions such as this were extensively used within imperial palaces and other ceremonial buildings in order to provide comfort (some were used as decor pieces). This Imperial cushion boasts a lotus and flora motif rendered in hues of green, purple, salmon and black upon beige silk satin. Please note, breakdown of the silk has occurred throughout commensurate with age as well as fading, particularly to the silk thread, due to the use of natural dyes. Some restoration has taken place in order to stabilize the breakdown of the silk. See photos for more details.
