Offered for sale fresh out of a local estate we offer this very fine 19th Century Black Forest hand carved cuckoo mantel clock.The clock is quite large at 25\" tall and 17 1/2\" wide.The carving is very fine. The wood case is in very good condition with only typical wear around the edges. One hairline age crack on the base but does not detract and is not loose.The movement is signed AP. I can get the clock to run for about 10 minutes and then it stops so it needs adjusting.This clock was purchased at Ahlers & Ogletree sale Gallery in 2013 for $2750 plus 21% premium.The gentleman passed away before he even unwrapped it. The tags were still on it.One of the bellows needs to be replaced and there are a few of the rods that do not seem to be connected. The one to the bird seems to keep the door open. I am able to wind both sides.The face is in good condition. There are a few tiny holes that look like they use to have tiny nails. Tiny chip on the bird door.
