19th Century French Louis XV Style Bonze Dore Mantel Clock w Onyx Japy Freres:
$799.00

This is a Japy Freres Bronze Dore clock from about 1850 in the Louis XV style, time and strike 8-daymovement. The clock is about 14 ½ inches tall and 10 inches wide and weighs 17pounds. I have one key for the clock and have tested that the clock does strikeon the hour and half hour. The clock was purchased in Holland around 1985 andthe antique dealer in The Hague. The clock does not have a pendulum so it doesnot work. However, I believe that a new pendulum could be purchased from anantique clock dealer for about $20 to $30. Also, three of the numerals aremissing from the face (see photos). I believe the clock to be gilded bronze (goldpowder over bronze) as it is very heavy. An appraisal from a licensed appraiserindicates that the clock is Bronze Dore with onyx inserts. The markings on theclock indicate that it was manufacturer in France by Japy Freres et. Cie. Thismanufacturer won the “Grd Med Honour” at the Expos Universalle Paris, 1855.(please see photos). The clock bears the serial number 1185.

The clock with two candelabra (we lost one and sold the other) was appraised in 1985 by a licensed appraiser for $3,800. Please see photos of the appraisal and the appraiser\'s credentials.
The clock will be shipped USPS Priority Mail with Signature Required to the purchaser.
