19th Century James Yates Pint Pewter Concave Tankard Beer Mug 1860-1880:

Very nice 1 pint pewter tankard by James Yates dating from the latter half of the 19th century, 1869-1881. Unusual slightly concave shape and thumb rest on the handle. Marked to one side James Yates and \"pint\" and the other with the VR verification mark over 497 and also other year numbers 93, 94, 97 and 98. There is also part of a touch mark a bit further over. Inside there is a pot touch number 8 over a crown as a standard Yates mark. It has the initials JC on the front.

It measures 4 3/4\" high, 3 3/4\" across the base and 5 1/4\" rim to handle. It weighs 1lb/425g. Condition is good: the base rim has been folded under slightly but no damage, splits, holes or dents and surface wear is very good for age.
