A fine early vintageand genuine.

Full issue, four pages., devoted to total abstinence, morals and education., trying to get men off booze and trying to prevent any new drinkers from starting down the path of doom.

The masthead showing a large waterfall and flood, houses being washed away [ sort of like your life would be washed away if you began to drink ]. A nifty section on famous sayings., ie: Never grab your musket by the muzzle, always keep it away from you., ...He that goes to the tavern first for the love of company, will at last go there for the love of liquor., etc, etc. Words of wisdom.

A good number of illustrated ads, many from Temperance supporters, a number of good quack medical ads, cures of all sorts. Some advertising for agents to go off and sell the stuff. [ it was a fact that most of these concoctions were mostly alcohol ].

Condition: Not as dark as our camera shows., solid acid free paper stock, a small ad has been removed. some age browning in a few areas., no odors. A few minor tear repairs.
