1ofKIND ANTIQUE GEORGIAN SEED PEARL BOXED Velvet SUITE NECKLACE EARRINGS 1800s:
$4200.00

One of a kind stunning original antique boxed suite of all original natural seed pearl jewelry that dates back to about 1820. No two sets were identical because they were all hand made with intricate bead work. This set includes a necklace with elegant detailed sections and dropearrings and the original royal blue velvet box with baby blue satin interior that it is displayed in. Lace look of intricately beaded rosettes beautifully made and extraordinary ornate design. These pieces of art in this set are all in need of restoration.Note: I am happy to have you examine this piece and have appraisal from a jeweler in the Washington DC / Virginia / Maryland areas. A jeweler can give you a document of authenticity and appraisal for this beauty and it might be worth a local trip to view this item prior to making a offer. Let me know if I can help with this in any way.(screenshot photo from research on web) photo shows a set that resides in the British Museum. I would be most happy selling to a museum or private collector in hopes that it might be restored to its original glory. I hate to part with this because it is a family air-loom, but it deserves to be restored and displayed... My aunt\'s request was always to have it in a museum if possible.(screenshot photo from research on web) Antique Roadshow (newspaper clipping shown) appraised a similar set in year 1996 for approx. $5,000 with repairs needed... and if restored properly would bring much greater value for purchase by private collector (see photo story shown). There are signs of repair that were done at some time (repairs are estimated to have been done approx. 100 years ago - appear to be \"glue like yellowing in areas\") The clasp: (I need to check on this) I think it is 18K or 24K gold.
This set is contained in its original Royal Blue Velvet Box. The front of the box appears to be missing its original closure top gold clasp. This type of jewelry set was only made and worn by the well to do. Usually it was gifted to a woman and worn at her wedding. I do not know if this was handed down to my grandmother or if it was purchased by a relative and gifted to her, she was an avid antiques buyer I know, but maybe I can help fill in some blanks with the help of cousins and photos located of this set when it was worn???? I will try to locate something more if the buyer has interest.Very unusual to find such a complete set, all original with box!
I have a small number of seed pearls in a small packet that were loose inside this case that will be included when this item is shipped (may be about 20 loose seed pearls at most). Very clearly this has had some repairs in the past and also is missing small areas of beading. I think there is enough still in tact on each side to figure out what is possibly missing on the other side to put back to original state when repairing.Condition: Delicate, frail, string breakage, bead breakage, but the loss of seed pearls in certain areas does allow you to see the structure to rebuild as needed. Backings that were used to strand the beads to seems to be in tact and I think it is mother of pearl that is used as a template shape to strand and adhere the intricate detailed seed pearl beads onto as a base. This will need repairs that will be very tedious, but for the expert bead repair person, might not be as difficult to repair. Areas of glue (I think it is glue, not certain what the yellow stuff is) that are visible will need to be carefully removed (There might be beads in these areas of \"glue like\" that can or can not be salvaged?) There are signs of wear as this set is extremely old and fragile. There are seed pearls that appear to possibly be broken, and Im sure there are seed pearls that have fallen out of the box and are missing, but what I do have that is loose will remain inside the box as they have been sitting.Date: This is from 1820-1890, it belonged to my grandmother, and possibly handed down to her. It is not marked on the box as far as I can tell. Please ask questions before you offer. This is a very delicate and very old set and I will not accept returns for this item. In its current state it is not wearable, but could be restored and then worn or just displayed. This set could certainly sit in a museum (repaired or not) to show the glory of the jewelry only the affluent wore back in the day. A set like this in the early 1800\'s would cost around $300 - in todays market that would translate to an astonishing price of $$$$$$Offers considered.
This item will ship fully Insured with signature required upon arrival. Thanks for reading my sale details.
Happy offerding!
