Here are Three (3) of the most beautiful Maps that National Geographic has ever produced. I call this the \"Planetary Set\" of Charts that include (earliest to newest) \"The Earth\'s Moon\", \"The Heavens\", and \"Mars\". They date from 1969, 1970, and 1973, respectively.I list them as \"maps\" for categorical listing purposes, but they are more accurately charts. To my knowledge, these are the earliest planetary charts of Mars, the Moon, and any celestial chart produced by National Geographic. If you know otherwise, please let me know and I will update this listing. The chart/maps are done in full color, however, given their nature, the color dark midnight blue predominates. The Mars and The Heavensare double sided; the Moon chart is not. On the reverse of the Mars chart is a color drawing of what the Martian landscape might (now proven, does) look like (see Photo 5). On the reverse of the Heavens chart is a series of monthly star charts as seen from the Eastern and western hemispheres (see Photo 7). The first 3 photos show the obverse of the charts. The chart of the Heavens shows the constellations and stars as can be seen from the earth as known back in 1970, so I would assume what is depicted is at least most of the Milky Way. All of these charts are exquisitely executed cartographically and expertly enhanced with illustration. The Mars and Celestial charts are 23\" x 35\". The Moon chart is 27 1/2\" x 42\". These charts are all in near mint condition, essentially pulled from new National Geographic magazines. There are no conditional issues. Please see the Condition Section for full details. Since the publication of these charts, National Geographic has released more recent renditions of these subjects, but I believe these first ones have more of an artistic quality as well an intriguing \"vintage\" look.
