I believe this wonderful old thread holder to be from the late 1800’s.

This item is hinged so that one end slips over the hand leaving the ball of thread to freely turn as the thread unwinds.

The item measures 7” when fully extended.

It holds a ball of Clarks Lustre crochet cotton.

The oval wrist opening slips easily over my large hand and I wear an 8-8 1/2 glove.

The tatting shuttle measuring 3 1/4” in length and 7/8” in width has a tatted project in process.
