You And Your Work

Length: 10 Minutes | Produced: 1948

Work is not a concept that is understood by all. It is not merely showing up and fulfilling the time requirements of a company it is enjoying the nature of what you are doing therefore succeeding personally and in the name of the company. \"You And Your Work\" is 1950s conformist ideals at its best as a high school councilor attempts to explain what work is and what makes a person successful. A young shoe salesman, who hates his work, is used as an example. He is shown that it isn\'t the nature of the \'work\' that\'s unfavorable it\'s his attitude regarding it. If he\'d just be happy about selling shoes everything would be okay! By the end it is understood that work is as good as the person appreciating it.

A Story Of Shoes

Length: 24 Minutes | Produced: 1930s

Shoes have morphed throughout the years from necessary utility to a thing of fashion and style. They not only cover the feet but enable an outfit to be complete and a message given about status and style. \"A Story of Shoes\" shows how such accessories were made in the 1930s. While not the prettiest or grandest example, it shows how a pair of simple leather soled shoes is produced in a factory and arrives at its destination of the retail store. Excellent footage of factory work and shoe design is accentuated by vivid color shots that add life to the informative documentary.
