hand painted, one of a kind originals, the smaller box is 6\" tall by 6.75\" wide and the larger box is 8\" tall by 8.5\" wide. they aren\'t paper or cardboard. these were sturdy leather covered and felt lined boxes. nice quality...they are refurbished items so the inside felt isn\'t perfect, but they turned out beautiful!
