Up for sale are 2 Northwest Coast Pestles. The largest is 5-1/2\" long by 2-5/8\" wide and is made out of Basalt. The other is 5\" long by 2-1/2\" in diameter and is made out of a dense diorite. It was found at the Mouth of the Pallouse River in Franklin County, Washington on July 9, 1967. In the upcoming weeks here on , we will be selling the collection of Dr. Evan M. Maurer. Evan has an eye for art whether it is prehistoric or historic artifacts. He collected art first and in my opinion most collectors should try to follow in his footsteps. Collect the ART in Artifacts. Dr. Maurer was the Curator at the Art Insitute of Chicago of Africa, Oceania and the Americas. He was the Director at the University of Michigan Museum of Art and Professor of the History of Art. At the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, he was the Director and CEO and is now the Director Emeritus of the MIA. Mr. Maurer also wrote the book, \"The Native American heritage, A Survey of North American Indian Art\" in 1977. While working at these institutes, Mr Maurer handled some of the finest pieces of Indian Art in Museum hands and in Private hands.
