This sale is for a wonderful PAIR OF VINTAGE HAND MADE PRIMITIVE FOLK ART BLACK AMERICANA CLOTH DOLLS. They seem to date to the 1920s or 1930s. The dolls are 18\" tall. The have fabulous hand embroidered faces. The boy\'s hair is done in French knots. The girl has braids. Their clothing is hand made with machine stitching. The girl\'s dress has hand stitched hem at the neckline and sleeves. These dolls are in very good condition. They were found sitting on a shelf in the attic of an old house in southeast Michigan. They appear to have been sitting there for a good many years. They were quite dusty when found. We lightly blew off the majority of the dust but made no attempt to clean them. The clothing is faded in a manner that suggests they have sat there untouched for a long time. The colors are brighter on the back side than on the front. The boy\'s overalls show evidence of the fading in the creases at this knees and under the hankie in his pocket. On the girl it is seen under her pinafore. I see no holes in the fabric. The dolls bodies are in great condition. The boy has a small spot on the back of his neck and another on his left foot. I\'m not sure what they are. They are NOT holes but are something on the surface of the fabric. I did not attempt to remove them. I see nothing on the girl. These are wonderful old cloth Black Americana dolls for any collection.
