The fabric is signed \"Martha\", so it was probably designed by Martha Nell, but we have not found comparable prints by this artist to be able to make a full, well founded judgement. The hand made print was entitled DOS, an enigmatic name whose actual artistic meaning, in the mind of the creator, we don\'t know. Of course, DOS is \"two\" in Spanish, and it a well known acronym of the computer era, but this was made in the 1960\'s.
At the time, Key West Hand Print Fabrics was printing designs made by Zuzek (Suzie) DePoo, the chief designer of the company, for Lily Pulitzer of Palm Beach and others. We are guessing \"Martha\" was one of the designers working under Suzie\'s direction.
There is another registered name on the selvage: Key West Decoratives; we have not been able to find references to it via a web search, but it probable experts and collectors of these Key West fabrics have information about it.
The fabric measures 87\" by 55\" across, including the selvage. The 87\" lengths comes to be about 2 yd and 15\", give or take fractions.
It has selvage on one side only; the other side has no selvage but you can see, on close-up # , that that border is shop-made, not cut.
By the way, there is a black speck on close-up # 7: it is not a stain or any flaw, it is just a little ball of dark cotton that got into the camera view, and was just blown away later on.
