Edo Period,Early 1800\'s

Exquisitequality Edo Periodblue and white porcelain bowl. Hand painted ingorgeous, deep indigo underglazeof early Ko-sometsuke design.Butterfly, cloud,and botanical imagery, with gradation and subtle wash,beautifully painted. Thesublime sometsuke decorationfills the interior, while highly stylized vines ( tako karakusa ) wrap completely around the exterior of thisoutstanding bowl,all coming together in an artistic and harmonious piece.Measuring approximately 6 3/4\" across, thiselegantbowl is in excellent antique condition with minor wear commensurate with age andthe usual iron spots and kiln marks from the time of creation which add so much character and authenticity. Magnificent, earlyJapanese sometsuke porcelain ware. Dating to theSamurai and Shogun era,early 1800\'s, this splendid porcelainwork of artwould make awonderful addition for the collector of fine Japanese antiques.
