Up for sale is a 12 coin 2000 - 2009 Jefferson Nickel Proof Coin set which includes all of the San Francisco proof coins for each of the years 2000 through 2009. During the first decade of this new millenium the venerable nickel, largely unchanged since its introduction in 1938, saw numerous design changes. First, in 2004 and 2005 the mint produced Lewis & Clark \"Westward Journey\" special nickels to include the 2004 \"Keelboat\" and \"Peace Medal\" commemorative designs and the 2005 \"Bison\" and \"Western Waters\" designs. With the changes in 2004 and 2005 the mint also changed the obverse depiction of Jefferson for the first time since 1938. In 2006 the mint returned to the \"Monticello\" reverse which was present on nickels from 1938 to 2003, however with an updated and more precise Monticello rendering for the more modern minting process. In 2006 a third obverse depiction of Jefferson was used and has been utilized to the present. The twelve coins in this set showcase all of those changes. The coins have all been sourced directly from mint proof sets. I carefully take the proofs directly from the original mint packaging with gloves. This is a nice set of Jefferson Nickels for a very reasonable price. Included in this set are the following 12 coins:
