It is now a vintage piece, as it was produced for the 200thanniversary (200 Jahre, as on thelabel) of the “Wallendorfer Porcellan” factory. This Wallendorf porcelaincompany is one of the oldest porcelain trademarks in Germany and the whole ofEurope. The company started in the 18thcentury in Thuringia, Germany (southof Erfurt and Leipzig). At the time this anniversary platter was created(1964), this factory was in the DDR (then East Germany). The backmark was usedby Wallendorf from 1963-1965 and includes the crowned “W” above the year 1794,followed by “Goldrelief handgemalt”. The platter measures 12 ¾” (32 cms) indiameter and stands 2” (5 cms) high. This lovely piece dates from 1964, but ithas never been used and is in excellent new condition, with no scratches,chips, cracks, crazing, or stains.
