Minted since 1982, Mexican Libertad silver Coins are a product of the oldest mint in the United States, the Casa de Moneda de Mexico, which translates to “the House of Mexican Money.” The mint was founded by the Spanish in 1535.
The 2012 Mexican Libertad contains 2 oz of .999 fine silver. It measures 48 mm in diameter and 4.5 mm in thickness. With a small mintage, this coin is a popular and is an opportune purchase for collectors and investors alike.
Similar to other Mexican Libertads, this 2 oz. coin’s obverse features Mexico’s Angel of Independence, a winged figure who represents Mexico’s victory in their war for autonomy. Behind her stands a row of mountains and volcanoes. The words “2 Onzas,” “Plata Pura,” “Ley .999” and “2012”, along with the mint mark “M” are all inscribed. The reverse side of the Libertad features an eagle with a snake in its mouth hovering over a cactus. The words “Estados Unidos Mexicanos” meaning “United Mexican States” encircle the eagle. The emblem was shrunk in order to make room for a variety of Mexican province symbols that surround the outer rim of the coin.
The 2 oz. Mexican Libertad is not only an exceptional collectible, it also commemorates the significance of Mexican independence. Invest in this rare coin today
