The Story-Originally invented and developed in June 1938, Superman has been an icon of American culture ever since. Spreading his good will throughout the world, he now appears in comic books and on other products throughout the world. Although his appearance has changed somewhat through the years that encompass his adventures, his goal remains the same - to fight greed and corruption and to protect the people of Metropolis, the city in which his alter-ego ClarkKentholds a job as a newspaper reporter at the daily newspaper, \"the Daily Planet.\"

Superman is known to have powers that humans do not have. That\'s because he is from the planet Krypton, where his parents sent him away into space in a capsule as a toddler to save him from the destruction of their home planet. Discovered some time later in a field inKansas, his adoptive parents raise him as their own, naming him ClarkKentand discovering his super-strength and other powers over time. They teach him to harness this power for the good of mankind, and instruct him to keep his true identity a secret while going about his daily business.
Clark heeds the instruction of his parents, ducking under cover to change into his Superman uniform to do his good deeds, then disappearing just before his alter-ego reporter character Clark Kent arrives on the scene to cover the story. Always a step behind the story,Clarkis admonished for not catching u and interviewing the Man of Steel. An ironic twist to a very good story! In another twist of fate, the subject of Clark’s desire, co-workerLois Lane, is smitten with Superman, constantly blowing off youngClarknot knowing the two are one in the same.

The character of Superman was originally developed in 1933, but appeared for the first time in Action Comics #1, a comic book series by Detective Comics, later renamed DC Comics. The premise to the character was a super-human boy who appears from space and grows into a man with good intention and powers that help him save lives and protect the people of Metropolis, the city where he lived, from danger and harm. Superman has to hide his identity behind a ‘normal’ human character known as ClarkKent, the name given to him by his adoptive parents.

As a young man,Clarksecures a position as a reporter for the Daily Planet, the title of the daily newspaper of the city in which he resides, Metropolis. He is caught in having to suddenly disappear as Clark Kent and reappear as Superman to conceal his true identity to his boss Perry White, photographer Jimmy Olsen, and the girl of his dreams, Lois Lane.

His arch enemy is villain Lex Luthor, who somehow thinks Superman is hindering the advancement of human kind with his adventures. Luthor is often seen both as a recluse and as a power-mad billionaire, both of which are true to his character. There are a number of other villains in Superman\'s life, however Lex Luthor appears more times than any other villain character.

The DC Comics Originals series has a classic, slightly retro style, recalling the look most comic book fans grew up with and remember fondly. Basing itself on the DC Comics style of the 1980’s, this series celebrates one of the most established looks for the DC Comics pantheon of super heroes, and a few of its villains too.

Since his first appearance in 1938, millions of readers and movie-goers have been captivated by the adventures of ClarkKentand his secret identity as Superman. Safe from the destruction of his home planet Krypton, the infant space traveler was discovered nearSmallville,Kansas, by Jonathan and Martha Kent, who raised him as their son. They instilled in him the strong values and beliefs that compel him to use his superman abilities for the greater good. As an adult living in the big city ofMetropolis,Clarkkeeps his powers a secret, thanks to his person as a mild-mannered reporter, but as Superman, he becomes a powerful symbol of valor, strength, and justice while battling some of the greatest villains of all time.
