2016-P Australia 1 oz Silver Kangaroo

First issued in 1993, the Silver Kangaroo coin series has always been one of the more popular annual coins issued by the Australian government. These coins have very clever designs that change annually, and make a gorgeous set when completed. This year\'s issue is different, however, in that it is the first Kangaroo issued by the Perth Mint of Australia!

2016-P Australia Kangaroo Design

As with all coins issued by the Australian authorities, the obverse design of this coin includes the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as the prominent feature of the design. Around her head the table reads, \"ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 1 DOLLAR.\" The designer initials \"IRB\" show directly beneath the truncation of the bust.

The reverse design shows a Red Kangaroo in its center with a radiating sunburst all around the Kangaroo in the center. The table around the edges reads, \"AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO, 2016 1OZ 9999 SILVER.\" This design also incorporates a new \"sunburst\" appearance of lines radiating outward from the center of the design, further strengthening the appearance of the design! The \"P\" mint mark (for Perth) is prominently displayed on the right side of the design at the 3 o\'clock position in the table.
