Description:Weare pleased to offer this Taisho/Showa Period Japanese Cloisonne vase (C. 1930s) depicting foursparrows (two on either side) perched among magnolia and cherry blossoms, aswell as wisterya. Cloisonne is a way of enamelling an object whereby fine wiresare used to delineate the decorative areas into which powdered glass is addedbefore the object is fired, then polished. As with most Cloisonne, thisbeautiful vase is quite distinctive in that it depicts birds mid-flight and the flora blowing in the wind. The vase is textured and shows natural pits due to the nature of thematerials utilized during the crafting process. A clear glass overlay was addedand the vase was then polished to a high sheen. Decorative geometric and flora motifs addpleasing aesthetics, as do the brass end caps and visible silver wire.A turquoise Cloisonne finish, though not polished, is present internally. Thisvase is in extraordinary condition with no cracks or enamel losses.
