22” ANTIQUE KNICKERBOCKER TRANSITIONAL TEDDY BEAR, SUPER RARE, GREAT SHAPE!

I am so excited to bring this special bear to market. Yes he is beautiful, large and well made with a quiet charm about him; but more than that, he represents the transition process, the brief period in time where Knickerbocker, due to high demand of their teddy bears and stuffed animals, were experimenting with new forms of mass manufacturing, including the materials shapes, sizes and designs of their future.

About this Bear: This teddy is 22” Tall, Fully Jointed with all limbs moving as designed and his fur is a clean, thick and shiny dark brown, shaggy Mohair. He has the typical broad, triangular head with pointed muzzle, eyes wide set, vertically stitched nose and mouth and large cupped ears set over his facial seems. His arms and legs are shorter and his torso a little longer. He as the standard hump back and also has his original velveteen paw pads. The one non-original feature is that his eyes have been replaced by a beautiful set of glass translucent Amber eyes with black pupils.

His body is soft stuffed with Kapok and his head stuffing is a combination of excelsior and Kapok. His back squeaker is non-working.

Please review all the photos as they serve as part of the description. You will note there is a 1” x 1” bare spot (or overly clipped) spot on the right side of his muzzle. Lastly, his velveteen paw pads are quite dark compared to the initial tan they were during his creation 85 years ago!
