***Update***I received an email question about how I verified this was from The Baker in Dallas. Here is my response.
\"This set was owned by the former silver buyer for Neiman Marcus in downtown Dallas. She sold antique and vintage items under the name AKW Collectibles. I acquired the set, sold under her label, through at Dallas Market Center as they handle estate pieces occasionally.
The note attached to the set said, \"All pieces by Gorham + Reed/Barton. Made in USA - silverplate on nickel. Founded in 1925 by T.E. Baker at Akard and Commerce. Interior contents sold 1979. Imploded 1980. Hotel sold 1949.\"
Everything I have purchased from her through the showroom has come with a detailed label featuring historic origin of a piece (if available) and insight into the motifs, materials, etc.
Theodore Brashear (T.B.) Baker was a Texas hotelier. He purchased and ran the St. Anthony and Menger Hotels in San Antonio. In 1921 he designed and built the Texas Hotel in Ft Worth and designed and built the Baker Hotel in Dallas (construction started in 1924). He also designed The Baker in Mineral Wells. All of these were operated under \"The Baker Hotels\" umbrella. I hope that sheds some light on this! \"
