23 original and antique iron keys set on a large, heavy brass key ring I made and had all gold plated to 5 microns thick by a firm in Philadelphia on Jewelers Row back in 1985. They have been hanging on a door knob inside my home for the last 32 years.
There are two chips to the plating on the ring. The keys are in wonderful condition. They would be fabulous kept as a set or broken up to be used as gifts or to sell separately. This would be fantastic given as a birthday gift with the number of keys on the ring corresponding to the birthday years. You could save any additional keys not given at the time to be given on the birthday every year thereafter up to 23 years of age.
The key ring easily flexes slightly to allow removal or adding of the keys. To plate gold this thickly today will cost $55/key (@ $1245/oz.) This would cost a little over $1200 to have plated to this thickness today not including the original keys.
I am setting the opening offer with at $12/key including the ring as a group (so that is $276 which will eliminate the less-than-serious) and let you all decide what they are worth to you.
