This is from a large collection of African art offered at an estate sale. The story was that most of the items were brought back from Africa in the 60s and 70s. The collection contained some VERY nice pieces. This is carved from a fairly dark and heavy wood, might be Ironwood or something similar. The shaft end is broken, not sure if that is the original look or later damage. The entire piece is about 25\" long, with the blade part about 12\" long and about 2.5\" wide at the base.
