This is a Rare 3\" Diameter Valveless Plain Bell Brass or Bronze Steam Whistle for a Steam Locomotive, Traction Engine, Steam Tractor, etc. The diameter of the bell is a full 3 inches. The overall height is just at 9 inches and the bell itself is a little under 6 inches tall. It has a 3/4 inch threaded inlet. It weighs in at just under 4 pounds. It has the number 78 stamped on the side of the hex nut on the bottom. I did test this whistle on my air tank using a ball valve, and it sounded and worked great on 40 psi of air with a very pleasant, mellow sound!
There are a couple of minor pipe wrench marks on the bottom of the hex nut as found on most steam whistles. Otherwise, it is in good condition with a very nice shine as it has recently been cleaned and polished. Please look closely at the photos as this is exactly what you will be buying. Itwould be great for display as a railroad museum piece, or to use on a smaller sized live steam locomotive train, factory, sawmill boiler, ship, tugboat, riverboat paddle wheeler, steamship, live steam engine, steam traction engine or steam tractor, etc.
