3 Superb Rajasthan Miniature India Traditional Watercolor Paintings Silk Cloth Three exquisite watercolor paintings on silk cloth in the distinct Persian-influenced miniature painting style of Rajasthan, India.An exquisite work of art from the western state of Rajasthan, India. Handmade miniature paintings are finely detailed, colorful pictures painted in glowing mineral, vegetable, and exotic watercolors on silk. The artist claimed the silk to be handmade.* The first cloth (small, portrait orientation) is 7 inch by 9.5 inch with border. It features a royal seated on an ornamented stool and carpets under a cloth canopy in a garden setting. Behind him are advisors, one of whom wields a long baguette-shaped mysterious object. Garden foliage, a distant palatial building, seated visitors, a gateman, and other delightful visual elements complete this painting.* The second cloth (small, landscape orientation) is 7 inch by 9 inch with border. It features a royal perched on an ornamented throne receiving visitors. Directly in front of him is a vicar presenting a boy who offers salutations. A dog being restrained, a vibrant fort, patterned canopies, ambassadors wearing colorful costumes pervades this painting.* The third cloth (largest, portrait orientation) is 10 inch by 14.5 inch with border. It features an intimate inside of a fort where a royal is perched on a striking throne in a domed ornamented canopy. He receives lobbyists, trade parties, and visitors ... their professions distinguished by their costumes. Musicians frolicking in the patch, commoners waiting at the gate, a cheerless horse, conspicuous background tree, and fine details celebrate this exquisite painting.Subtle patterning and consistent styling in traditional Rajasthan-style and the artist\'s unique technique with great attention to detail. Original handmade artwork contains imperfections and idiosyncratic styles. Look at the scans of the front and the backsides. The colors in the scan are somewhat washed out; the colors are rich, vivid, dark, and very appealing.The thick borders, the ornaments on the men and the foliage details, the gates, the borders of the pillar, hint of gold/metal-like finish.I purchased these exquisite paintings on a trip to Rajasthan in 2004 and have since kept in storage carefully.
