BEAUTIFUL EARLYANTIQUE CAUCASIAN DAGHESTANPRAYER RUG, NorthEastern Caucasus mountains, 3rd quarter of the 19th century, and coming invery good collectible condition. The exact size is:3\'-2\" x 4\'-9\" (97 x 145cm). This offering is near-identical, in all respects (age, structure, design, and color palette),to the specimen published by Ralph Kaffel. Refer to \"Caucasian Prayer Rugs\", 1998, plate 59, page 110-111. All wool in construction with vibrant natural dyes derived from organic plant sources. Scattered re-pilings toworn areas in the field accomplished in the past (see photos 9 and 10). Side cord over-castings are mostly original with some re-wrapped areas of abrasion. Both the top and the bottom, very outermost, guard borderswere ragged at one time and have nowbeen professionally restored with the ends sewn secure to prevent any future loss of structure.This artistic professional repair and conservation to some worn or damaged areas has made this lovely antique prayer rugaesthetically appealing to the eye. This little jewel is clean and collection ready. It literally glows in person. Magical \"eye candy\" when displayed as a wall hanging.
