To apply the intricate cobalt glass pattern, one craftsman rotates the blob of glass on its axis while another dabs a rod into molten cobalt and spins a thin strand of the material onto the lower portion of the piece. After the glass is cooled, craftsmen paint the vivid colors within the pattern using different colored luster and 24k gold. One last firing ensures that the color will last a long, long time.
All glassware is beautifully hand-crafted at the Cristiro factory in Bistrita, BN, Transylvania, Romania.
FEATURES:
Can be hand-washed using a non-abrasive, mild dish washing soap in warm water (do not use any type of chemical cleaner).
Each glass is a piece of art created by an individual artisans. Glass blowing is the art of creating an object from molten glass by blowing air into it through a tube (rod). The artisan collects molten glass onto the tip of the blow rod to be blown. Each ware is then blown to the proper thickness and into the proper shape by mouth. When the glass is just right, the piece is taken out and allowed to cool.
This glassware is lead free crystal. Each piece of mouth-blown and hand-decorated crystal is produced individually in the European country of Romania, in the old tradition of blowing glass. Crystal is a popular term for colorless 24% lead glass that has a high refractive index and consequently is particularly brilliant. Today, the word is often used to describe any fine glassware.
