FOUR SOLID SILVER THIMBLESHALLMARKED BIRMINGHAM, LONDON, SHEFFIELD 1987, EDINBURGH 1986 IN ORIGINAL PRESENTATIONBOX – VINTAGE AND EXTREMELY RARE!

A very beautiful set of four solid silver thimbles in their originalpresentation box. Each thimble carries thedesign for a different Assay Office in Great Britain on its lower half, whichis repeated all the way around. Three ofthe thimbles carry a design from an English Assay Office: an Anchor forBirmingham; a Leopard’s Head for London and a Rose for Sheffield. The fourth is from the capital city of Scotland,Edinburgh and has the Edinburgh Castle motif.Each thimble is also hallmarked according to its respective AssayOffice.

We do not know the occasion for which these thimbles were made. All we can say is that we cannot find anotherset that is even similar. And everythingabout this beautiful cased set is absolutely immaculate and they are as neweven though they are almost 30 years old!

HISTORY: They were crafted by silversmith CharlesH Hooper of Northampton Street, Birmingham, England in the mid-1980s who madethimbles of designs of hallmarks.

HALLMARKS:Each thimble has crisp, clean hallmarks for silver. They are all hallmarked with the letters CHH for Charles H Hooper. TheBirmingham thimble has the Anchor assay mark, the London thimble, theLeopard\'s Head and for Sheffield, the Rose. Each Assay Mark is followed by the lion passantdenoting solid silver. The English thimbles are all hallmarked with the letter \"N\" for the year 1987. The Scottish thimble has the hallmark letter \"M\" for the year 1986.

WEIGHT: Each thimble weighs 8g with a combinedweight of 32g.

CONDITION: Absolutelymint condition for everything – thimbles and box.

This is a ‘musthave’ high quality, unusual set of solid silver thimbles that every collectorwill want to own.
