English* Early to Late 20th Century
The largestoftheselittle sterling silver thimbles was made by Henry Griffith &Sonsin the 1930s and has all over daisy knurling. It is marked \"SterlingSilver\" & \"Made in England\". Itis slightly over 5/8\"highand it is about the same as an Americanchild\'s size 5 (13.5 mm diameter opening). The next thimble is plainand was also made by Griffith but has rubbed hallmarks. It was made inthe early 1900s. It\'s a slightly smaller size 5 (13 mmopening).The next thimble has a beaded rim and hallmarks for Birmingham 1987. Ithas the maker\'s mark for Swann Thimbles and is about a child\'s size 3(12 mm opening).
The smallestthimble is only 1/2\" high with an opening of 9 mm. It hasthe English sterling hallmarks for Birmingham 1913 and the maker\'s markfor James Fenton (probably). It\'s really too small to be for a childandmust bea doll\'s thimble. It\'s in excellent condition with no wear or otherdamage. I\'ve shown them all with a size 9 adult thimble for sizecomparison.
