4 Vintage Hand Carved Large Palm Tree Tiki Totem Poles TAHITI Bar Indianapolis:

Set of four vintage hand carved palm tree tiki totem poles recently salvaged from an Indianapolis, Indiana residence. Each pole measures approximately 108\" tall. Lot is composed of two pairs. Two are approximately 8\" in diameter. Two are approximately 9\" in diameter. Backsides of all four poles have some notches cut that seem to be where horizontal railings rested in their original location. They appear to be the 4 corner poles of a hut or canopy. I do not have an accurate weight on these. I spoke with two individuals currently carving similar poles in the United States. Both agreed they are vintage and so large that trees to carve them are not longer available. Indianapolis had one restaurant / lounge where these may have originally been installed. It was known as Knobby\'s Mai Tai and was located at the southeast corner of 38th Street and Shadeland Avenue. I do not have any images of these poles originally installed there and I cannot guarantee that they are from there at this time. What I do know is that Knobby\'s Mai Tai borrowed their menu design and font from The Tahitian and the font found on two of the poles is this font. Offered as found, uncleaned, and unrestored. Peeling, faded, finish. Some cracks in trees visible. Some chips and scrapes from being moved several times. All poles have holes drilled in them in them that were used to secure the poles where they were last installed. Some bowing in two of the trees.
