i strive to deliver 5 star customer serviceMayor Haussling\'s 18k Jurgensen minute repeater a super high grade watch with provenance ~ being mayor of newark is not the same as being president of the usa (just ask corey booker (btw anyone know how to get a hold of him? i have a watch for him.... ;-) ~ ) but still.... the combo of a jurgensen of this grade with it\'s history ~ priced just below recent major sale house\'s comparable results ~ so if you like it ~ you should grab it.....this will be your last shot a this treasure.... for a while.... 52.25mm diameter across the pink gold 18k crisp hunting case not including the slide or the pendant ~ in good running order & striking correctly clear & true ~ service history other than laying around for many years is unknown ~ topped off by it\'s stiff original bow with chain guard the time is set by having the front cover open & pressing the bow twords the dial ~ the time is advanced in this manner ~ as with any antique repeater watch only advance the time so as not to cause damage ~ front & rear covers nicely engraved & the front cover springs open to a crisp 90 degrees when the crown is pressed ~ clear glass crystal over a beautiful double sunk dial signed J. Alfred Jurgesen (jules\'s son who made some really nice watches!) ~ roman numerals ~ excellent purple moon hands with a gold seconds hand ~ repeater is slide activated striking out the hours first with one hammer the whatever completed quarter hours are noted by a double stike & any stray minutes are stuck out singly ~ all very nice & correct ~ movement under the signed & numbered cuvette with engine turning is displayed with a glass crystal ~ nickel damaskeened jeweled throughout ~ large gold jewel settings over the repeater spring & center wheel ~ gold cap over the escape wheel ~ the pallet is a two part held in position by a screw ~ a very fine watch signed J alfred jurgensen ~ copenhagen ~ No 12573 ~ hall marked inside all the covers for 18k & j alfred jurgensen & 1253 ~ a real bonus is the provinance of the watch as it is engraved inside the front lid presented to mayor jacob haussling by his friends on his 54th birthday feb 22 1909 ~ jacob was elected essex county sherriff in 1893 & in 1906 went on to being elected mayor of newark new jersey ~ he got re elected 3 more times....1908,1910 & 1912 ~ he had gotten elected by running against the \"bishop\'s law\" that closed saloons on sundays... he ran on the plank of what\'ll ya have? on the other hand he might not be to thrilled that the school district spends $22000 a month on take out & maybe he would put an end to such things i don\'t know... but i do know this is one beautiful high grade antique pocket watch certain to please the enthusiast! my thanks to newark civil servents for the photograph of Mayor Haussling please ask questions and resolve issuesbefore you placeyour offer reserve? here! so if you like it you better place youroffer now before it gets away! thanks for checking out my listingand if you are into watches please check out my other sales & you might want to keep a half-an-eye on myupcoming listings as i am liquidating a long time watchmaker\'sestate-whilst i continue to span the globe for unique and exoticitems to bring to your door!
