Description:This carnation and pearl bud fur clipis just beautiful. The red carnation is tinged with pink edges and the leavesare tinged with light green. This fur clip is made of base metal with rhodium plating;pave rhinestones accent the flower, pearl bud, leaves & stem. The piece isenameled in red, pink, green, light green and brown. A large drop shaped fauxpearl represents a flower bud.This fabulous 1940’s Trifari Crown furclip was designed by Alfred Philippe. The design patent was applied for onDecember 29, 1939 and received on Jan 30, 1940.This clip is marked: with the Trifari crownlogo and “Des. Pat No. 118759”.This piece is listed on page 79 of theAmerican Costume Jewelry: Art & Industry, 1935-1950, N-Z, by Roberto Brunalti&. Carla Ginelli, (2008).This is the large version of AlfredPhilippe’s carnation and pearl bud fur clip it measures 3” x 2”.The large version is rare and hard to findin good condition. I only found one for sale that was at N and N’s VintageCostume Jewelry, for $1,775.00 The smaller fur clip with a red budinstead of the pearl is much more common. It measures a half an inch shorterand narrower than this fur clip.Condition:This piece is in very good vintagecondition. See photographs for details.There is some slight enamel wear. The largestspot is on the carnations center petal. I am not sure if it wore off or wasleft unpainted to accent the shape of the flower. I will let you decide. I do not see any missing or damagedrhinestones. There are some very small tiny ones that are not quite as brighton the edges, but overall they are in very good condition.
