48+ Antique Images and Articles on
the American Negro / Black Americana,
1852 - 1913
Thisentertaining and historical lot ofBLACK AMERICANAMATERIAL comes from a lode of material we picked up about20 years ago from an old, venerated bookstore in Seattle which went out of business after 100 years of service. We were able to purchase a large lot of ephemera - particularly loose pages from a variety of the BEST ILLUSTRATED AND RESPECTED MAGAZINES AND JOURNALS dating from roughly 1830 to 1940.
In our "spare" time we have been selecting many hard to get subjects from this group and putting together some scarce and highly interesting material.
This groupconsists of48 single and double-page illustrations from a variety of publications including HARPER'S WEEKLY, MCCLURE'S MAGAZINE, GODEY'S LADY'S BOOK, FRANK LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED NEWSPAPER, NATIONAL HOUSEHOLD, COLLIER'S WEEKLY, ILLUSTRATED LONDON NEWS, & LITERARY DIGEST.All relate directly or indirectly with CIVIL RIGHTS, LIFESTYLE, and OCCASIONAL HUMOR. Pages are an average size of about 11" x 15.5". The images & articles are useful for collectors, writers, hobbyists & scrapbookers.
