1930’s Vintage 4 Foot Tall Paper Mache Classic Santa Department Store Display OLD

Buyoldstuff is pleased to offer this unique antique one-of-a-kind nearly 4 foot tall circa 1930’s paper mache classic Santa Claus store prop display statue. Measuring about 46” tall, it was purchased from a department store about 30 years ago when they were selling off vintage store displays and props from old window displays. The item has been stored and displayed since that time by the same family, now the second generation of that family. This is a marvelous one of a kind vintage Christmas item circa 1930\'s or early 1900’s. The green base measures 14” x 12”, and has a cute holiday bell painted or appliqued to the front.

The item is in very good vintage condition, with no tears, dents, dings, or compromised spots. Colors are bright and not faded and it has a great patina from age. There is no musty smell and it is from a pet free and smoke free enviroment. The integrity of the piece is there, not having been repaired. Often these types of paper mache items have parts that are broken or that mice or rats have chewed through. There is some very minor paint missing on some parts of the display, but nothing major that detracts at all from the overall fantastic effect of this vintage piece. There are no indications of a manufacturer, maker or artist anywhere on the piece, but from his style and construction, he looks like he could have been made in Germany. In any event, I am most certain this probably the only one in existence.
