5 Piece Antique Set 1885 by Sorley Silversmiths of Glasgow
This is an unbelievable find. It was a wedding gift to Jessie Cross Thomson in August 6, 1885 from the employees of Wisham Coal Co of Motherwell, Scotland. It includes the tray with the engraving, what I think are a coffee pot and tea pot and the sugar and creamer. Very nice shape for the age with almost no damage anywhere. The one pot has two of the pins holding the handle replaced with wire (see photo) and the knob on the cap to the larger pot has the wrong type of bolt holding it in.
The total weight of the set (prior to adding shipping boxes and wrapping) is 8 pounds, 11 oz. The tray is 22.5\" handle to handle x 12.75\" deep. Tall pot is 8.5\" tall, 7-7/8 spout to handle. Little pot is 6\" tall, 10.25\" spout to handle. Sorry but I don\'t know if it is silver, silverplate or what. I did take a photo of the symbols on the bottom but couldn\'t find what they mean.
