Victor Perantoni\'s Pocket Change.

Carlo Perantoni and his two sons, Victor and Luigi, operated a successful import-export business of fine Italian wines. The export business was anchored in Carlo’s native town Volargne di Dolce’ in Valpolicella North Italy, and the import business was anchored in the city of Lwow Poland (Lviv Ukraine, today), the city where Victor and Luigi were born. There, in Lwow Poland, the family operated the ‘Winiarnia Italia Wine and Pasta Tavern’, which also served as a field office for the “Societa’ Esportazioni Vini Italiani” (S.E.V.I.), and was also the regional office for Warsaw’s Italian Consulate, for which Carlo Perantoni had been appointed Honorary Vice Consul. These functions kept the family very busy during the 1930’s, and usually at least one family member was traveling throughout Europe by train to conduct the various facets of their business. Victor’s father, Carlo, and his brother, Luigi, contributed to Victor’s collections by having provided many early20th century coins and philately, obtained during various travels troughout Europe, and which are currently being listed for sale in our store “The Lion’s War”.

In addition to all the deaths and sufferings caused by World War II, the Perantoni Family also incurred greatfinancial losses. First they lost more than 40,000 gold-backedPolish Zlotywhen they had to abandon their Italian Winery shoppe and their Italian wine import-export business in Lwow-Leopolisdue tonazi Germany\'s attack onPoland 1 September 1939 ...And then, whatever finances remained to the Family were mostly Italian money of the fascist era, and some German money which had become popular under the Nazi occupation. History tells what happened to the value of that money after the Allies invaded Sicily, and proceded to attack the mainland ofItaly, in the summer-fall of 1943. Money became useless as war rations dominated the economy, and even though, the only way to obtain useful living supplies was by bartering in the underground black market. Victor however, as an avid collector, hecontinued to accumulate his worthless pocket change, and that of his family members and friends too. Today his \"pocket change\" has become valuable once again, on 21st century ! More information on Victor Perantoni and his collections is in our book \"Arrivederci Leopolis. The Lion\'s War\" published by Amazon. Visit our Familystore \"The Lion\'s War\".
